Aetna Health Insurance
Aetna Insurance Company was founded in 1850, in Hartford, Connecticut. Its original mission was to sell life insurance to a judge named Eliphalet A. Bulkeley. Judge Buuleley was on the Aetna Insurance Company board of directors and was the former president of Connecticut Mutual Life Insurance Company; which was Connecticut’s first life insurance company.
Not many people know this, but the name Aetna comes from an 11,000 foot volcano that is located long the east coast of Sicily. Back in its day, Mt. Etna was the most active volcano in all of Europe. People who came to see it were awed by its size and strength because no one had ever seen a mountain like it before. This is why the originators named their company Aetna, because they wanted it to be a company like no one had ever seen before. Because of there 150 plus years of experience, they have partnerships and relationships with doctors, hospitals, public officials, patients, employers and many other people to provide a strong and effective health care system.
